By using Programmer Finder you agree to the following terms. The goal of this document is simple: basic rules to keep the community healthy.
Eligibility
Programmer Finder is rated 18+. You must be 18 years or older to create an account, because the app can show your approximate location on a map to other users nearby. We have zero tolerance for child sexual abuse and exploitation (CSAE); see our Child Safety Standards.
What's allowed
- Finding coding buddies, mentors, or pair-programmers near you.
- Organizing local meetups, code review sessions, or mini hackathons.
- Sharing repos, your favorite stack, and projects on your profile.
What's not allowed
- Harassment, hate speech, discrimination, or illegal content.
- Spam — including mass messaging, promoting bootcamps/products without context.
- Fake identities — signing in via GitHub must use your real account.
- Scraping or automation to harvest other users' data.
- Commercializing connections — Programmer Finder is not a recruiting platform; don't contact users with direct job offers without a wave-and-consent step first.
Objectionable content
There is zero tolerance for objectionable content or abusive users. You agree not to post content — in your profile, bio, photo, or messages — that is harassing, threatening, hateful, sexually explicit, or otherwise objectionable. Reported content is reviewed by a human moderator, and you can block any user immediately without waiting for that review.
Moderation
Report anything that violates these terms using the "Report" button on a profile or chat, and block any user at any time from their profile. Our moderation team reviews reports manually within 24 hours; content found to be objectionable is removed and the responsible account is ejected. Accounts that violate these terms receive a warning, then suspension, then a permanent ban depending on severity.
Responsibility
Programmer Finder connects you with other people. Meeting offline is your own responsibility — stay alert and choose a public place for a first meeting. We do not verify identity beyond GitHub/Google OAuth.
Apple App Store terms
If you obtained Programmer Finder from the Apple App Store, the following also applies:
- These Terms are between you and Programmer Finder only, not Apple. Apple is not responsible for the app or its content.
- Apple has no obligation to provide any maintenance or support for the app.
- If the app fails to conform to any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple and Apple will refund the purchase price; to the maximum extent permitted by law, Apple has no other warranty obligation.
- Apple is not responsible for addressing any claim by you or a third party relating to the app, including product liability, legal or regulatory non-compliance, and consumer protection claims.
- Apple is not responsible for the investigation, defense, settlement, or discharge of any third-party claim that the app infringes intellectual property rights.
- You represent that you are not located in a country subject to a U.S. Government embargo or designated as "terrorist supporting", and that you are not on any U.S. Government list of prohibited or restricted parties.
- Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms and have the right to enforce them against you.
Except as modified above, use of the app is also governed by Apple's Standard End User License Agreement.
